Lammon Brothers

What Size Dumpster Do I Need?

Pick the closest match to your project. The recommendation follows the same rule our phone quotes use: size to the debris, and size heavy loads by weight instead of volume.

Mixed job, or nothing above fits? Call (419) 825-5956 and describe it; two minutes on the phone beats any calculator.

Why does heavy debris change the size?

Every dumpster carries a weight allowance, and the landfill bills by the ton. A 20 yard full of concrete would blow past its allowance while looking half empty, so dense loads go in the 10 yard on purpose. It's the difference between a quote that holds and an invoice that grows.

Dumpster size questions

What size dumpster do I need for a house cleanout?

A 30 yard covers most full-house cleanouts without a mid-job swap. A single room or a packed garage is a 15 yard, and a small apartment clearout often fits the 10. If you're between two sizes, take the bigger one: a second haul costs more than the size step.

What size dumpster do I need for a roof?

Shingles are a weight question, not a volume one. Most single-layer asphalt roofs land on a 15 yard and double layers step up to the 20. Work it in tonnage: squares times weight per square. The roofing page has the weights by shingle type.

What happens if I pick the wrong size?

Undersized is the expensive mistake, because a second haul is a second delivery. If the dumpster fills before the job is done we can swap it, but sizing up front is cheaper. Tell us the job on the phone and we'll size it against the weight allowance before the truck rolls.

How much does each dumpster size cost?

Flat rates by size: $315 for the 10 yard up to $620 for the 40, with delivery, pickup and 10 days included in every one. The price list shows all five with their weight allowances.

Is the biggest dumpster always the safest choice?

No, and it's the most common overcorrection. Every size carries its own weight allowance, so a 40 yard loaded with concrete or shingles hits the tonnage limit long before it looks full and the overage costs more than the right dumpster would have. Heavy debris goes in a small dumpster on purpose.
