Single-layer asphalt on an average house: the 15 yard at $370 flat. Double layers, larger roofs, or architectural shingles across a big footprint: the 20 yard at $420. Both have low 4-foot walls, which matters more than most expect. A crew tossing shingles off a roof wants a dumpster it can hit, not climb.
Slate and tile go the other way: smaller dumpster, weight discussed first. Every rate includes delivery, pickup, 10 days, and a weight allowance. Overage runs about $60 a ton and we agree on it before delivery, so your invoice matches the bid you gave your customer.

Work it in tonnage rather than squares, because that's what actually fills the dumpster. Multiply your squares by the weight per square: a 25-square roof in three-tab asphalt at 240 pounds runs about 6,000 pounds, or three tons. The same roof in architectural shingle at 415 pounds is closer to 5.2 tons, which is a different size.
