How Dumpster Rental Works
Five steps, ten days, one flat rate. If you have never rented a roll-off before, this is the process end to end, including the parts people usually find out about late.
The five steps
- Pick a size. Describe the job on the phone and we'll name a dumpster, or run it through the size calculator first. Heavy material such as concrete and shingles goes in a smaller dumpster than the volume suggests, which is the one place guessing costs money.
- Book a delivery day. A day or two of notice usually gets you any size. You can book online or call the yard and talk to a person.
- Agree on where it goes. Driveway is the default. We need a straight run in and about 60 feet of clearance. Boards go down on new concrete or asphalt.
- Fill it. No sorting, no bagging. Keep everything below the top rail so the load can travel legally, and keep the prohibited list out of it.
- Call for pickup. Same truck comes back and winches it up. If the job runs long, keep it and pay by the day.
What is in the flat rate
Delivery, pickup, 10 days of rental, and disposal up to the weight allowance. There's no fuel surcharge, no mileage add-on for the far end of the service area, and no environmental fee bolted on at the end.
Two things can change it, and both get discussed before the truck rolls. Extra days past the ten are priced per size. A load over the weight allowance runs about $60 a ton. We quote the weight on the booking call so neither one is a surprise.

This is the part worth two minutes on the phone. The truck needs a straight approach, roughly 60 feet of run to set the dumpster down, and overhead clearance for the raised rails. Low branches and utility lines over a driveway are the usual surprise.
On a new or resealed driveway we lay boards under the wheels. On a tight older drive, send a photo when you book and we'll let you know whether the 15 fits or the 10 is the better choice. Street placement is possible in some towns and needs a permit in others, so ask before you plan on it.

How do dumpster rentals work?

How much notice do you need to deliver a dumpster?
A day or two ahead and you'll usually have your pick of sizes. Same-day happens when a dumpster is already free, and you'll get a yes or a no on the phone rather than a maybe. Roofing and contractor jobs are worth booking about a week out so the dumpster is there before the crew starts.
What happens if I need the dumpster longer than 10 days?
Call and keep it. Extra days run about $10 on the 10 and 15 yard, $12 on the 20, $15 on the 30, and $20 on the 40. There's no penalty framing to it; a job that runs long is normal, and the extra days are priced the same whether you tell us up front or halfway through.
Do I need to be home when the dumpster is delivered?
No, as long as we have agreed on the spot beforehand and the driveway is clear. Most deliveries happen without anybody there. Send a photo of the drive when you book if the placement is at all tight, and we'll confirm it before the truck rolls.
